"Awhile ago I was sketching around and wanted to revisit the idea of a Valkyrie. I did a painting in 2004 called "Choosers of the Slain" and enjoyed depicting Odin's female warriors who chose the heroic dead after battles to live on in the afterlife in Valhalla. This time around I wanted to get up and close and see her face and expression. I love to depict people with their animal companions so I included Huginn and Muninn (Odin's ravens --- Thought and Memory) and also his wolves, Freki and Geri (the Greedy or Ravenous One). What do you think? I really like her!"
